Mulder has a couple of moments in this that I liked: making the basketball shot like it isn’t even a thing, and fooling the serial killer by taking him to the wrong house.
I liked this episode a lot, in a creeped-out kind of way. My main complaint was that there were a couple of good opportunities for Skinner to punch people in this episode. Still, nice scripting job, Vince Gilligan!
When Mulder went into the bus depot I had a brief flashback to the first Transporter movie.
I’d be super impressed if David Duchovny had made the shot on his first try, like Sigourney Weaver did with the over-the-shoulder half-court shot in Alien: Resurrection.
My favorite Skinner scene is when he gets mad at Mulder for punching the serial killer. Because that is CLEARLY Skinner’s job.
You gotta love the alien-themed pillow covering Mulder’s nether regions as he’s handcuffed to the bed. Conjures up such opposite feelings of what I had during that scene in the actual ep, but hey… 😉
My nominee is The Chronicles of Narnia. We read those books in my Catholic grade school, and the idea that the children die in a train crash at the end of book 7, and they’re all “Yay! We get to be dead now!” is creepy beyond words. Thanks for the great role models, Sister Florence.
Yeah, and how Susan doesn’t go to heaven because she noticed boys exist. It reminds me of the sequel to “the Princess and the Goblin”, which runs off the rails in Fundie territory and turns into a bad “A Pilgrims Progress” fanfic.
I always thought A Wrinkle in Time was creepier than Alice in Wonderland. I don’t know if it’s the creepiest children’s book, but certainly creepier than that.
See that tongue in panel 7? Keep your kids away from people like that. Yowzer.
One of my favourite episodes. Nice job.
“Oh, you say that about everyone I trust blindly.” <- best line.

Yes, exactly!
Also: napping is the best way to get clues!

You say pillow I say boxer shorts with a tent….
It’s CLEARLY boxer shorts … with a tent.
Ah yes… I stand corrected. Now many, many more opposite feelings of what I had during the scene from the ep.
well in his defense, he was asleep
Bahaha! They’re actually fabric hearts. Get it right.
Hi Shaenon,
Sorry to be that guy, but I believe you spelled ‘pederast’ wrong…
Oh, Alice in Wonderland is not even *CLOSE* to being the creepiest children’s book.

I nominate Yurtle the Turtle. Not creepy until you realize its actually about Hitler.
Also, the Elf on the Shelf book.

I like to pretend neither exist.

Wrinkle in Time is pretty darn creepy, as is Struwwelpeter, but for my money it’s actually Peter Pan. Seriously.
Is there anyone who didn’t kidnap Mulder’s sister? I mean, seriously.
My new theory is that Mulder never HAD a sister- the whole thing is down to a very successful bit of brainwashing.
That sounds weirdly plausible
Skinner was so mad in this ep. How did they get through this ep WITHOUT Skinner’s Fist???
