I never realized how complicated the plot to this episode was until two-thirds of it didn’t fit into a twelve panel comic that still pretty much told the story. If it were told better in the show, it would be impressive that they could have fit a subplot for each of five doctors, the administrator, and the good witch/nurse into a 44-minute episode. Unfortunately, they didn’t and this episode has always been kind of meh for me.
I /thought/ that was Ben Horne, but then I convinced myself it wasn’t!
The consensus of my online watching group was that this episode was: (1) really gross and (2) ended really abruptly. Or maybe that was just my consensus.
Also, I guess one of the women in this episode was also in Natural Born Killers.
I remember seeing the face peel for the first time during an FX rerun when I was in my mid teens. I couldn’t handle it. I yelled to my dad OH GOD HE’S PEELING HIS FACE OFF
The face-peeling scene in Poltergeist was the only part I found scary when I was six. I thought the rest of it was funny, but the part where the guy walks into the bathroom and peels his face off FOR NO REASON sent me screaming out of the room.
The fact that Ben Horne was in this before I knew he was Ben Horne is almost enough to make me want to rewatch this episode. Almost enough. But man, I remember not liking it since it just seemed to want to be violent…

The two main things I got from this episode: it was really gross. And Mulder maybe wanted a nose job? That happened right?
Yes, there were a few points in the episode where Mulder seemed to be thinking about some kind of plastic surgery.
Ah. Oh good grief, Mulder. Your nose is really very nice and good.
And even if he were to get one, why was he considering getting one *here*?

I don’t think he was, just the ads for plastic surgery were giving him ideas. I thought it was an enjoyable little character moment.
