The thing I noticed the last time I watched this episode was that the young girl who got kidnapped was Kaylee (Jewel Staite) from Firefly. And Lucy was apparently re-born as Audrey Pauley.
Jeez, this was a hard one to make funny. At least we have Mulder’s massive “my sister was abducted” issues to make light of. Always much funnier than kidnappings.
Also, as I’m currently reading through the Director’s Cut of Narbonic and just finished the 1st story-line with Dr. Narbon, wanted to note that it’s nice to see “heh heh heh” some more. You can never have enough “heh heh heh.”
I think this story feels all the more distressing because the kidnappings (as opposed to Mulder’s detective methods) are entirely mundane and realistic. Nameless blood-drinking horrors from before the dawna time are endearingly camp by comparision.
Wow, I love your comics.
Especially Fox *crazy-about-alien-stuff version*.
I’m watching X-Files for the first time (I’m at 3×13) and it’s nice to see what other people think about every episodes. I’d like too see what you will draw about Syzygy… that was crazy.
I’ll follow you.
Ciao!
When I first saw this episode back in the late nineties and early 00s I remembered Jewel Staite from Space Cases – that weird space show on Nickelodeon…
🙁 That was 10x sadder than the actual episode.
I agree, other Doug.
I agree.
Heh heh, magic blood.

Now I have to go watch this one again and yell non-related Firefly comments at the screen!
Now I’m certain I will next time.
Nice last two panels. I like the girl’s eyes in the second last one.
Bit of a shame they weren’t 80s teens. You could have had a ball drawing the hair.

The Foglios have ruined the word “oubliette” for me. I find myself mentally following it with “Ob-La-Da.”
Why did I never made the connection between “Oubliette” and Jewel Staite??? Probably because I only discovered Firefly like 6 months ago.
