Note that we did see Pendrell in the comic before, at the very least we saw him in Season 3, Episode 10 when he first appeared. He may have been in one or two other comics, but I’m not sure.
Wait. Wasn’t Mulder’s groupie from season 1 in this episode too? I like how one of the themes of this two parter for Scully is “I’ve got cancer. I really don’t give a damn.”
SHIPPER MOMENT! (I ship Mulder and his cocktail straw).
Good one… “The Conspiracy got to the wreckage and stole everyone’s watches!” Yes, that stretched my suspension of believability a bit much (to the point where it snapped in the next ep). Great recap!
I kind of wish they’d gone “Jose Chung” for the whole series and established that sometimes the Conspiracy does weird crap just to confuse people. Stealing watches, turning elephants invisible, eating an entire sweet potato pie.
Hm. It seems the only part of this episode I remember really well is the shipper moment. And Pendrell’s death, which is/was upsetting. Other than that, this is one of the less remarkable mythology two-parters to me.
I love the panel of Mulder swimming towards the underwater flying saucer.
On the other hand, it shares a title with an excellent Yes song, so it’s got that going for it.
PENDRELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooOOOOOO!
So sad that the first time we see Pendrell in this comic he gets shot!
Also, I didn’t know coral grew in lakes. (Or is that not coral?) 🙂

Spanking machine?
Hang on — someone else who watched Repo Man? Woot!
I must be missing the Repo Man reference. It’s not like Scully has a glittery metal hand or anything.
It’s about all those cans of food™ brand food.

There is so much awesome in this strip, and I’m hard pressed to choose, but I would absolutely wear the last panel as a t-shirt. 😀

Sending in Jesse Ventura in a ponytail skullet . . .
Now Mulder, you know that’s not what Jacques Cousteau meant by scuba suit.
Mulder scuba-diving with his FBI suit is THE BOMB!
Hee. “Shipper cake.”

This is probably a weird comment, but Pendrill is one of the best drawn dead guys ever.
Scully is just lucky Mulder didn’t get her astronaut ice cream for her birthday. Or IS she?
