Hey, I put a hand on your hand so you could grab things while you grab things. (I had to rewind the episode to rewatch that bit. So creepy!)
This is one of those episodes where Scully is uncommonly slow on the uptake. “Gee, this wound I got from a booby trap is taking a long time to heal, and I’m starting to hallucinate a little. But no time to deal with that! I have to investigate these puffer fish poisonings!”
I think this was probably inspired by ‘The Serpent and the Rainbow’? Anyway it’s kind of refreshing to see a show about zombies that isn’t about ‘The Night of the Living Dead’-style zombies.

I’ve summerized the ep for you thus:
Whodoo the voodoo? Youdoo!? Oh, doodoo!
This episode always had a little Heart of Darkness flavour, to me, in among everything else.
Zombiriffic. Brilliant first four panels. And I kinda wanna see a Voodoo Fight just like that now.

I remember liking the zombie take on this episode as well, there are other versions of the classic monsters out there
