Over the years, the X-Files did a bunch of episodes based on the monster legends of different American cultures: Haitian zombies, Jewish golems, Hispanic chupacabras, whatever was going on in the San Francisco Chinatown episode, anything Native American, etc. I like this idea in theory, but in practice it tended to lead to meh episodes, possibly because actually researching these myths and legends was too much work.
In all honesty, Native Americans have plenty of reason to be suspicious of the federal government, but man, these people are not helpful about dealing with the werewolf problem at all.
No, Scully. Next time you should just arrest whoever is being cooperative. Case closed.
Is it wrong that I want that second to last panel to have the wolf saying, “Can I intest you in a copy of the Watchtowerawr!”
I don’t even like this episode and you made me want to watch it again! Good job!
“Whitey McLand-Stealing Rancherson” rises to the level of poetry. You just own the Internet. The Internet is your bitch. Thanks so much for these.
Why is this the best blog I never knew about? I’m just going to sit here, now. Waiting. You know, it worked for Mulder in J.D., so…
Wasn’t the Chinatown one about organ harvesting disguised as a gambling ring – or was it a angry hungry ghost chick. At that time sexy angry Chinese hungry ghosts were all the rage.
Rancherson is played by Donnelly Rhodes, lately the irascible Doc Cottle on BSG, but for many years the also irascible Detective Leo Shannon on Da Vinci’s Inquest, and, going back far enough but not leaving Vancouver at all, the Dad on Danger Bay.
I fell for him when he was Dutch, the adorable felon-on-the-run on Soap.
